From a Swabian manufacturer of measuring pumps for the bottling of milk to an international valves specialist

Königsbrunn – Inventive talents and numerous innovations made STÖHR to a worldwide reputable manufacturer of precision valves.

In 1938 Franz Xaver Stöhr started the manufacturing of measuring pumps for the bottling of milk in a small company. Also cutting and welding tools and air guns were developed and manufactured. In 1947 STÖHR extended the product range and offered cryogenic valves for technical gases. With a convincing technology STÖHR supplied valves to customers in the gas industry.

With the inventive talents of the employees, who are involved very closely in the production process, and the permanent development of the valves according to the customers requirements, STÖHR has become a specialist for all kinds of valves. Special valves were supplied to nuclear power plants, submarines and satellites. From 1970 also cryostats, plants and line systems for cryogenic services were manufactured in the Augsburg workshops.

In the year 2002 STÖHR moved to Königsbrunn, a town approx 10 km south of Augsburg, and has now a new administration and production building with 2000 square meter. Here they set the course for the worldwide customer service. The year 2006 is charcterised by expansion. The new export sales team has already realized considerable purchase orders from customers in North and West Europe as well as in Asia in the year 2005. With the long-standing experience and to-date equipment and facilities, for instance the cleanroom, the STÖHR team can face the future. The most important challenge is the analysis of the different technical requirements of the customers worldwide, and to develop and manufacture products which correspond with the individual requirements and standards.

The graduated engineer, Mr. Stephan Roters, and the Bcom, Mr. Manfred Jochum, have been running the company together from July, 2003. In the meantime Mr. Jochum and Mr. Roters have taken over all shares from the former shareholder, M/s Schünemann at Bremen. Mr. Roters is responsible for all technical departments and Mr. Jochum for the commercial departments and administration. With this structure a presently successful company will become even more successful in the future. STÖHR employs specialists for technical standards and regulations as well as for development and research. For the year 2006 capital expenditures of € 250.000,-- are planned for the development of new products.

The STÖHR group is on the road to success. The balance sheet of 31.12.05 (fiscal year from July 1st to June 30th) shows a two-digit plus in turnover and net yield. STÖHR has increased the number of employees by 30% within the last two years. The present location will be now and in the future a firm component of the company strategy.

The former company name “F.X. Stöhr GmbH & Co. Armaturenwerk KG” was changed into “STÖHR ARMATUREN GmbH & Co. KG”.
